Selby Jennings in Amsterdam is seeking a Property Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team. The role supports a growing European real estate portfolio and handles group and statutory reporting across properties and SPVs.

The successful candidate will lead month-end close, prepare accruals, review balance sheets, coordinate with treasury, and work with property managers on leasing, expenses, and allocations, ensuring IFRS/US GAAP alignment where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, RA, or equivalent) is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience.
  • Prior exposure to real estate, property accounting, real estate investment, infrastructure, logistics, or alternative assets is preferred.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS would be considered beneficial.
  • The candidates must be fluent in English and German or French.

Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets.
  • Prepare accruals, adjustments, reallocations, and reporting packages in accordance with group accounting standards.
  • Analyse financial results versus budgets and prior periods, providing commentary on key variances.
  • Present financial performance and reporting packs to internal stakeholders.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all key accounts are appropriately supported.
  • Coordinate with treasury teams regarding bank reconciliations, financing arrangements, and debt reporting.
  • Partner with property managers on leasing activity, collections, operational matters, and accounting treatment.
  • Review accounts payable coding and ensure correct allocation of operating expenses, recoverable costs, and capital expenditures.
  • Support tenant billing processes, rental invoicing, recoveries, and outstanding receivables management.
  • Prepare bad debt analyses and recommend provisions where required.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and quarterly reforecast processes.
  • Support fund controllers and senior finance stakeholders in interpreting financial results and accounting treatment.
  • Coordinate with external advisors on VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory filings.
  • Review statutory financial statements and ensure alignment between local and group reporting requirements.
  • Lead the accounting aspects of acquisitions and disposals, including SPV onboarding and purchase price allocation exercises.
  • Prepare audit files and act as a key contact during external audits.
  • Work closely with legal, tax, operations, acquisitions, leasing, and development teams on finance-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase automation, and enhance reporting efficiency.
