Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Financial Controller for a leading Amsterdam-based real estate investment firm. The role focuses on overseeing financial operations across real estate funds, investment structures, and SPVs, collaborating with investment, asset management, and fund teams.

You will manage monthly/quarterly/annual reporting under Dutch GAAP and IFRS, support audits, budgeting, cash flow, and management reporting, ensuring robust controls in a dynamic, international environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant experience in real estate investment management or funds.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• Strong understanding of investment structures, SPVs, and real estate fund operations.
• Experience with financial reporting under Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for real estate entities and investment structures.
• Coordinate statutory accounts and support external audits.
• Monitor fund and SPV accounting activities (internal or external providers).
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with financial analysis and reporting for investors, lenders, and management.
• Review fund performance and contribute to management reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with asset management, acquisitions, and investment teams on portfolio finance.
• Support process improvements and automation in finance.

For one of our clients, a leading real estate investment firm based in Amsterdam, we are currently seeking a Financial Controller to join their growing finance team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with investment, asset management, and fund management teams while overseeing the financial operations of a diverse real estate portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have experience within real estate funds, real estate investment management, private equity real estate, or a similar investment-driven environment and is looking to take the next step in their career within a dynamic and international organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for real estate entities and investment structures.
• Coordinate the preparation of statutory accounts and support external audits.
• Monitor and control fund and SPV accounting activities performed internally or by external service providers.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate financial administration.
• Assist with financial analysis and reporting for investors, lenders, and management.
• Review fund performance and contribute to management reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Work closely with asset management, acquisitions, and investment teams on financial matters related to the portfolio.
• Support process improvements and automation initiatives within the finance function.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience within real estate investment management, real estate funds, fund administration, private equity real estate, or a similar environment.
• Strong understanding of investment structures, SPVs, and real estate fund operations.
• Experience with financial reporting under Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English. Dutch is considered a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems is beneficial.
