Job summary

Orion Group is seeking an experienced logistics professional to coordinate the movement of materials, equipment, and personnel across global projects. You will report to the Logistics Lead in the LMM function and ensure shipments meet schedule and budget.

Key duties include planning transport, preparing import/export docs, working with LSPs, customs, and Country Logistics, and building strong cross-departmental relationships.

Qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP/Ariba considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, arrange and coordinate transport and shipping of cargo per LMM RACI.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Prepare and review import/export documentation per destination requirements.
  • Coordinate with Country Logistics for smooth customs clearance.
  • Resolve customs-related issues or delays during transport.
  • Identify logistics risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards in all logistics activities.
  • Build relationships with internal customers, suppliers and external LSPs.
  • Handle additional tasks as assigned by the Logistics Lead.

Job description

Coordinate the movement of materials, equipment, and people for projects, ensuring everything arrives at the right place, at the right time, and within budget.

Description of Role
  • Reports to the Logistics Lead in the Logistics & Materials Management (L&MM) function.
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring worldwide transport of cargo and equipment.
  • Prepares import / export documentation and coordinates with Logistics Services Providers (LSP).
  • Works closely with LSP`s to optimize transportation logistics.
  • Acts as the L&MM lead for the assigned projects.
  • Collaborates with Project Operations, Offshore Resources, and other stakeholders within the organization and fosters effective cross-departmental cooperation.
  • Leads, organizes and advises the L&MM function for their assigned projects
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Plan, arrange and coordinate transport and shipping of cargo and equipment as set per responsibilities in the L&MM RACI.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Address any L&MM related concerns or queries from stakeholders in a professional and proactive manner.
  • Prepare and review import / export shipping documentation in accordance with destination-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with Country Logistics to facilitate smooth customs clearance and meet customs requirements.
  • Resolve any customs-related issues or delays that may arise during the transport process.
  • Identify potential logistics risks or challenges and propose solutions to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures in all logistics activities.
  • Collaborate with the L&MM function as other departments to streamline processes and foster effective cross-departmental cooperation.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal customers, suppliers, and external LSP`s.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Logistics Lead or L&MM function.
Required Knowledge and Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Engineering OR
  • At least 5 years of working experience in logistics.
  • Any certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of local and international regulations governing the transport of goods, including customs procedures, import/export regulations, transport documents, dangerous goods, and safety standards.
  • Ability to multitask across different activities, flexible in approach and possess the ability to change priorities as and when business or client needs dictate.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English and Dutch.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and problem-solving mindset with a hands-on attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with exposure to SAP/Ariba considered a plus.
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad as required.
