Job summary

BigLift, based in Amsterdam, seeks a Project Engineer to lead marine transport and heavy lift preparations worldwide. You will bring hydrodynamics expertise to support offshore installation, DP operations, and vessel motion analyses, with a readiness to travel internationally and take responsibility for safe project execution.

You will coordinate with engineers and operations to prepare lifting gear, supervise subcontracted steel works, and ensure on-time delivery and safe on-site use.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in marine or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant maritime or offshore experience.

This shipping company is based in Amsterdam and is currently looking for a Project Engineer to play a crucial role in preparations of marine transport and heavy lift operations and execution worldwide. If you are specialist on hydrodynamics with experience in offshore installation and DP, willing to travel internationally and not afraid to take responsibility for the safe execution of projects, then this is the right job for you.

Operating a fleet of 25 state of the art heavy lift and heavy transport vessels, complex cargo operations in heavy lift, heavy transport or offshore supply are day-to-day business. Two newbuild heavy transport vessels will come into service in 2026, expanding theirfleet and theiroperations. Theyprovide an extensive range of engineered solutions in various industries worldwide, in close cooperation with theircustomers and theyvalue a long-term relation with our customers and partners. We arecurrently looking for a Project Engineer to play a crucial role in preparations of marine transport and heavy lift operations and execution worldwide. If you are specialist on hydrodynamics with experience in offshore installation and DP, willing to travel internationally and not afraid to take responsibility for the safe execution of projects, then BigLift has the right job for you.

What will you be doing:

As a Project Engineer you will be working with a team of operational experts as well as fellow engineers, together you will complete the required project preparations and execution on site. You have a lot of freedom to make projects a success. Need project specific lifting gear? Go ahead. Does the cargo require a specifically designed support system? Your job. Not only to arrange the design, but also to subcontract steel works, make sure that it’s delivered on time, and to use it on site.

With your specialism in hydrodynamics, you are the point of contact for inquiries about expected vessel motions during transport or operations, motion monitoring, mooring analysis, DP and other hydro topics, mainly required for the one of a kind offshore supply and installation projects.

What do we ask:
  • A hydrodynamics specialist who uses their brains and boots, who thinks outside of the box and is not afraid to dig in to engineering theories.
  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in marine or mechanical engineering and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in the maritime or offshore industry.
