Job summary

Allseas is seeking a Heavy Lift Engineer in Delft to design and implement safe, reliable lifting solutions for complex offshore projects. You will develop procedures, coordinate with the project team and provide offshore support during execution on vessels or in yard.

You will bring a strong engineering background, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines while occasionally traveling offshore for project needs. Fluency in English is required; Dutch is a plus.

Job description

As a Heavy Lift Engineer at Allseas, you will have a wide range of tasks covering the provision of technical solutions as well as writing operational procedures and provision of offshore support.

Your role

This includes design of topsides and jacket lift plans, destruct zones, (subsea) separation scopes, conductor removal, load transfer operations, platform preparations, crane operation and associated rigging, and provision of client design input.

As Heavy Lift Engineer you are responsible for:

  • Design and engineering: provision of solutions to facilitate the project with safe, reliable and innovative designs and procedures
  • Support and stakeholder management: working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, aligning your work with the project engineer and the various stakeholders, contributing to departmental development, and providing offshore support during project execution on vessel or yard
  • Documentation for approval: preparation of documentation for projects covering the technical solutions, calculations, method statements and operational procedures, ensuring they meet safety, performance and regulatory standards for class and/or client approval
  • Applying in-depth understanding of concepts and principles within your discipline and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines
  • Using strong analytical skills and weighing up aspects thoroughly in complicated or novel situations, while drawing conclusions based on criteria, facts and previous experiences
  • Providing coaching and supervision for junior and medior team members
  • Interfacing with various disciplines including project team, vessel crew, clients, subcontractors, certification authorities and marine warranty surveyor to define efficient and cost-effective solutions and provide ongoing engineering support
  • Keeping your knowledge up to date with the development of specialised equipment for installation operations
What we expect from you

To qualify for the position of Heavy Lift Engineer, you should recognize yourself in most of the following requirements:

  • You hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Maritime Engineering, or a closely related field
  • You have at least 3 years of project-related experience, preferably in a similar discipline or role such as Heavy Lifting, Equipment Engineering, or Transportation & Installation
  • Affinity with the offshore and marine environment is a big plus
  • You have an analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • You can zoom out to see the bigger picture and bring different disciplines together when necessary, such as Structural Engineering and Naval Architecture
  • Occasionally, you are willing to travel and work offshore, around 3 to 4 weeks per year
  • You are willing to dive deep into your field and become an absolute expert in your area
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus
