Job summary

Motus Integrated Technologies is seeking a hands-on Operations Supervisor for 2nd shift in a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive environment. You will lead hourly production teams, drive safety, ensure quality and on-time delivery, and push continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.

The ideal candidate thrives on the shop floor, builds strong relationships with staff, and makes timely decisions balancing safety, cost, and performance while developing high-performing teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience within a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility required.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience leading hourly production teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, labor planning, quality systems, and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MES systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of hourly production employees to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
  • Drive a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and safe work practices.
  • Monitor daily production performance and implement corrective actions to meet customer schedules and production targets.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized work instructions, quality standards, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Investigate production, quality, and safety issues using root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Coordinate staffing levels, work assignments, overtime, and cross-training to meet operational demands.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Materials, and Human Resources to resolve production issues and improve plant performance.
  • Lead shift start-up meetings, communicate KPIs, and provide regular performance feedback.
  • Monitor labor efficiency, scrap, downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) while identifying opportunities for improvement.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations within a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive production environment. This role oversees production associates, ensures safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The Operations Supervisor serves as a hands-on leader, fostering employee engagement, accountability, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with customer requirements and IATF 16949 standards.

They are comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, effectively balancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost while developing high-performing teams and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Materials, and Human Resources to resolve production issues and improve plant performance.
  • Lead shift start‑up meetings, communicate key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular performance feedback.
  • Monitor labor efficiency, scrap, downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support new product launches, engineering changes, APQP activities, and process validations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001 (if applicable), customer requirements, and company policies.
  • Complete production reports, attendance documentation, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain a positive employee relations environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Skills and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility required.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience leading hourly production teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, labor planning, quality systems, and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MES systems.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IATF 16949 quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and 8D problem solving.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean certification.
  • Experience supporting automation, robotics, or highly automated manufacturing processes.
