Job summary

Whatsnext Ai in the Netherlands is seeking an AI Engineer / LLM Engineer to build production-ready AI solutions that integrate LLMs, RAG, APIs, documents and business data.

You will work on real client problems in a hybrid role based in Rotterdam or Lelystad, partnering with engineers and consultants to translate questions into working AI workflows that are reliable, auditable and secure.

Qualifications

• Software development experience with production-ready Python apps.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI applications.
• Understanding of context, retrieval and reliability in AI systems.
• Experience working with APIs, databases and backend services.

Responsibilities

• Build AI applications in Python and integrate LLMs into production systems.
• Develop LLM integrations, RAG systems and AI workflows.
• Connect AI to APIs, databases, documents and business apps.
• Design document processing, embeddings, chunking and metadata structures.
• Implement structured outputs, function calling and controlled workflows.
• Maintain human-in-the-loop processes for safe AI use.
• Contribute to architecture, security, scalability and error handling.
• Test and evaluate AI output for quality and reliability.
• Debug AI systems and translate client questions into solutions.
