Job summary

For a leading financial institution, we are looking for a Data Product Owner who will define the direction of IT4IT data products and help create trusted, scalable data solutions that support engineering teams, risk functions, compliance and regulatory reporting.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of product management, data and technology. You will not need to be the deepest technical expert, but you understand how to translate user needs and organizational challenges into clear priorities, roadmaps and outcomes.

Your role

As Data Product Owner, you are responsible for shaping the vision, roadmap and backlog of data products used across the organization.

Together with Tech Leads, Solution Architects, Data Engineers and other specialists, you form the leadership around the product: you own the product direction, while technology decisions are made together with engineering leadership.

You ensure that data products are:

• Trustworthy;
• Reusable;
• Easy to consume;
• Aligned with business, risk and regulatory requirements.

What will you do?

Your responsibilities include:

Define product vision and roadmap

• Create and communicate a clear product vision for IT4IT data products;
• Translate consumer needs, regulatory requirements and business challenges into product priorities;
• Manage the roadmap and backlog based on value, risk, compliance, data quality and delivery capacity;
• Make transparent choices and explain trade-offs to stakeholders.

Build trusted data products

• Work with two DevOps squads consisting of onsite and offshore colleagues;
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, Architects and stakeholders to create reusable data products;
• Ensure data quality, lineage, ownership, security and lifecycle management are embedded from the start;
• Support use cases such as regulatory reporting, engineering insights, enterprise repositories and operational improvements.

Drive adoption and measurable value

• Stay close to consumers and understand how data products are being used;
• Validate assumptions and continuously improve based on feedback and measurable outcomes;
• Enable use cases across engineering, operations, architecture, risk, compliance and reporting;
• Prevent one-off solutions by promoting scalable and reusable products.

What do you bring?

You are a product-oriented professional who can create clarity in complex environments. You understand how to balance different stakeholder interests and turn challenges into actionable solutions.

You have:

• 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Product Owner, Project Lead or comparable role;
• Strong experience defining product vision, roadmaps and priorities;
• Experience working with DevOps teams and multidisciplinary stakeholders;
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills;
• Ability to translate user needs into clear outcomes, requirements and backlog items;
• Experience working in complex enterprise environments.

Experience that is highly valuable

Experience with one or more of the following is a strong advantage:

• Data products or data platforms;
• Data management, governance or data lifecycle management;
• Data quality and lineage;
• APIs, data modelling, analytics or reporting environments;
• Working within regulated industries such as banking, finance or insurance.

You do not need to be a technical data specialist, but you should have the curiosity and ability to understand the domain and collaborate effectively with technical experts.
