Job summary

ERM in the Netherlands is seeking an experienced Principal Consultant EHS to help clients manage environmental, health and safety challenges across industries.

You will lead audits, drive risk reduction, and guide senior stakeholders while building long-term relationships and contributing to ERM's growth in the Dutch market. Fluency in Dutch and English is required, with 8+ years in EHS consulting and a strong track record delivering practical, lasting safety improvements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in EHS consulting or industrial operations.

This role is ideal for a senior EHS professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with practical problem‑solving and trusted client advisory.

What You Will Do

You will work closely with industrial clients to improve EHS performance, strengthen risk management practices, and support safer, more resilient operations.

• Leading EHS compliance and management system audits.
• Supporting operational risk management and safety improvement programmes.
• Delivering risk assessments, incident investigations, and hazard studies.
• Developing and implementing EHS management systems, standards, and procedures.
• Supporting Process Safety Management (PSM) and contractor management initiatives.
• Delivering safety leadership, behavioural safety, and safety culture programmes.
• Advising clients on the integration of EHS and sustainability objectives.
• Managing projects and building long‑term client relationships.

As a Principal Consultant, you will also contribute to business development activities and help grow ERM's presence within the Dutch market.

What We Are Looking For

• BSc or MSc in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in EHS consulting and/or industrial operations.
• Strong experience in EHS auditing, compliance, operational risk management, and safety performance improvement.
• Ability to engage confidently with clients and senior stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
• Fluent Dutch and English.

Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM), contractor management, safety leadership, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, or major hazard industries is highly valued.
