Job summary

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) invites applications for a researcher to investigate hybrid urban water innovations within the RESILIENT-FLOWS Horizon Europe project. You will integrate Value Sensitive Design and ex-ante sustainability assessment, coordinating stakeholder engagement across Europe and contributing to decision-support tools for utilities and policymakers.

Qualifications

• PhD in Industrial Ecology, Sustainability Sciences, Technology Assessment, or a related field.
• Proven experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
• Proven experience with qualitative data gathering methods (e.g., interviews, focus groups).
• Interest in Urban Water Systems and Nature Based Solutions.
• Ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
• Excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating in interdisciplinary and international teams.
• Excellent command of English.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordinate stakeholder engagement activities (interviews, focus groups).
• Analyze how resilience and sustainability can be integrated in technology assessment and decision-making.
• Apply ex-ante Life Cycle Assessment methodologies for emerging water infrastructure solutions.
• Support project partners in integrating stakeholder insights and sustainability results into broader assessment frameworks.
• Publish research findings in leading international journals and present at conferences.
• Collaborate with academic and non-academic partners across Europe.
