Job summary

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the UI-PRIG project, developing AI-assisted tools to evaluate how online gambling presents risks and product information.

You will lead technical development, run user studies, and collaborate across disciplines to produce evidence-based design recommendations for regulators and researchers. This role sits within TU/e's HTI group and partners with Trimbos Institute.

Qualifications

• PhD (completed or near completion) in a relevant field (HCI, CS, HAI, psychology, data science)
• Demonstrated high-quality academic research with publications or equivalent outputs
• Strong programming skills, preferably Python, and experience building interactive systems
• Experience with AI-based methods (LLMs, generative AI) or ability to rapidly acquire these skills
• Experience with empirical research methods (usability studies, experiments, interviews, data analysis)
• Interest in responsible tech design, digital well‑being, risk communication, or societal impacts of interactive tech
• Ability to independently organize and execute research projects while collaborating with partners
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead research activities and develop two open-source tools: KanScan and KanLab
• Implement automated website analysis using Python, browser automation, and LLMs
• Conduct user studies, cognitive walkthroughs, interviews, and co-design workshops
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and translate findings into design recommendations
