Job summary

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Human–AI Interaction and risk-minimizing digital design in gambling. You will join UI-PRIG, a two-year project with Trimbos Institute, to explore AI-supported risk communication and transparent interfaces.

You will build two open-source tools, run user studies, and derive evidence-based design recommendations for researchers and public health stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PhD (completed or near completion) in HCI, CS, HAI, Psychology, Data Science, or related field.
• Peer-reviewed publications or comparable outputs.
• Strong programming skills (Python) and experience developing interactive systems.
• Experience with AI-based methods (LLMs, generative AI) or rapid upskilling ability.
• Experience with empirical research methods (usability testing, experiments, interviews, data analysis).
• Interest in responsible technology design, digital well-being, risk communication.
• Ability to independently organize and execute research projects with collaborators.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct user studies, including cognitive walkthroughs and interviews.
• Develop KanLab, an experimental prototyping environment and open-source tools.
• Analyse qualitative and quantitative data and translate findings into recommendations.
• Contribute to scientific publications and practical design guidance for stakeholders.
