Job summary

Leiden University is seeking a Postdoc in Population-Scale Network Science in Leiden. The role focuses on developing graph analytical methods for longitudinal, population-scale social network data from Dutch sources and linking methodological advances with social science questions.

The position sits within LIACS and PLANET-NL, offering strong international collaboration. You will contribute to BSc/MSc/PhD supervision and engage in interdisciplinary activities, benefiting from a vibrant research

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science or related field with a track record in network/complex networks or social network analysis.
• Excellent writing skills and proficiency in English, demonstrated by publications.
• Affinity with bridging methodological advances in network science with substantive social science questions.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration across disciplines.
• Experience with programming in Python, or R and/or C++.
• Ability to work independently, in a team, and supervise students.
• Creative and curious mindset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in network science and analyze population-scale social networks.
• Publish high-quality work based on project findings.
• Collaborate within PLANET-NL inter-university group and Leiden Network Science group.
• Co-supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students in data science and network science.
• Engage in minor organizational activities within the project.
