Universiteit Leiden invites applications for a PhD Candidate in Complex Networks. You will conduct research at the Mathematics Institute and LIACS, focusing on network theory, spatial models, and data-driven analysis.

The role includes collaboration with the Leiden AlFa group and the Probability research group. You will write a publication-based PhD thesis and participate in a limited amount of teaching and supervision.

Formación

• A university degree in mathematics, computer science or closely related field.
• Knowledge in network science/complex networks (graph theory, probability, random graphs, etc.).
• Programming experience, preferably Python, with willingness to develop stronger computational skills.
• Strong motivation for academic research.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Resident in The Netherlands or willing to relocate; Master’s degree by spring 2027 encouraged.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct complex networks research at the intersection of mathematics and computer science.
• Write a publication-based PhD thesis.
• Engage in a limited number of teaching and supervision activities.
