Job summary

TU Delft invites applications for two postdoctoral positions focusing on detailed EMT models of high‑voltage components for the UTOPYS library. You will develop, validate and parameterise models in RSCAD/RTDS, substations and protection systems, and publish work openly while collaborating with a consortium across Dutch universities.

Qualifications

• PhD in electrical engineering, power systems or a closely related field, obtained or close to completion.
• Solid background in power system dynamics and EMT simulation.
• Experience with at least one power system simulation package (RSCAD/RTDS, PSCAD, EMTP, PowerFactory, Simulink/Simscape, OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL, pandapower or PyPSA).
• Structured and well-documented working style so models are reusable.
• Enthusiasm for teamwork and open science.
• Strong command of English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate detailed EMT models of high-voltage components in RSCAD/RTDS.
• Model substations, protection and measurement systems for realistic faults and islanding.
• Validate models and integrate into the UTOPYS backbone with standard interfaces.
• Parameterise and document models for reuse by others.
• Publish models and datasets open access and present at journals and conferences.
