Job summary

TU Delft invites applications for a Postdoc in EMT modelling of high-voltage components and protection within the UTOPYS programme. You will develop and validate detailed EMT models in RTDS/RSCAD, focusing on lines, cables, transformers, breakers, HVDC terminals and protection schemes.

Working with the backbone team, you will parameterize, document and openly publish models and datasets, contributing to training and dissemination.

Qualifications

PhD in electrical engineering, power systems or a closely related field.
Solid background in power system dynamics and electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation.
Demonstrable experience with at least one power system simulation package (e.g. RSCAD/RTDS, PSCAD, EMTP, PowerFactory, Simulink/Simscape, OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL, pandapower or PyPSA).
Structured and well-documented way of working; models must be reusable and extendable by others.
Enthusiasm for teamwork on a shared product and for open science.
Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

Develop and validate detailed EMT models of HV components in RTDS/EMT tools.
Model substations, protection and measurement systems for realistic faults and islanding.
Validate models and integrate them into the UTOPYS backbone with standard interfaces.
Parameterise and document models for reuse and extension by others.
Publish models, datasets and methods Open Access and present at conferences.
