Job summary

University of Twente seeks a postdoctoral researcher to build EMT models of microgrids and customer-side assets for the UTOPYS library. You will implement reference models on RTDS/RSCAD and contribute to the open-source ecosystem guiding future power-system research.

You will collaborate with international partners, publish your findings, and help ensure models remain robust, scalable and well-documented for long-term use in a national real-time simulation facility.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, power systems or closely related field.
• Solid background in power system dynamics and EMT simulation.
• Proven experience with modelling, simulation and analysis of power systems using listed tools.
• Proven programming experience in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++, etc.
• Strong ability to publish results in journals and conferences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate EMT models of microgrids and customer-side components in RTDS/RSCAD.
• Create an RTDS library of customer-side components for the UTOPYS model.
• Assemble reference system models to reproduce islanding, frequency/voltage phenomena and grid-forming behaviour.
• Document, parameterise, validate and version-control models for long-term use.
• Publish models, datasets and methods in open access venues.
