Job summary

Delft University of Technology is seeking a Postdoc to help build the UTOPYS Library, focusing on the transmission backbone and coordinating model integration across partner institutions. You will lead design and validation of scalable EMT models and oversee standards, interfaces and repository stewardship.

The role emphasizes collaboration within the IEPEG group, exposure to a large RTDS deployment, and open dissemination of models and datasets through reputable journals and conferences.

Qualifications

• PhD in electrical engineering, power systems or closely related field.
• Solid background in power system dynamics and electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation.
• Demonstrable experience with at least one power system simulation package such as RSCAD/RTDS, PSCAD, EMTP, PowerFactory, Simulink/Simscape, OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL, pandapower or PyPSA.
• Structured and well-documented way of working so models can be picked up and extended by others.
• Enthusiasm for teamwork and open science.
• Good command of English, written and spoken.
• Experience coordinating technical work across a team or partners: setting standards and leading a work package.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a scalable RSCAD/RTDS model of a large 380/220 kV transmission system.
• Define the library's architecture, interfaces, modelling standards and testing workflow with partner postdocs.
• Act as technical lead for integration: plan sprints, review and merge contributions, and track runs and issues.
• Build the library to last: model conversion, scalability, documentation, version control and validation criteria.
• Publish models, datasets and methods open access and present them at journals and conferences.
