Job summary

PostNL is seeking a Software Engineer for its Data, Analytics & AI Platform team. You will build the cloud platform, software and tooling to accelerate data and AI solutions for colleagues across the organisation.

You’ll work on a major platform transition to a Databricks-based future while continuing to leverage AWS. The role blends development with platform engineering, enabling scalable, reliable data and AI tooling across logistics and planning.

Qualifications

• You work with Python and, ideally, TypeScript.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK and Terraform.
• Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Databricks.
• CI/CD tooling like GitHub Actions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the software platform enabling engineering teams to deploy data and AI solutions.
• Develop platform services, deployment pipelines, and internal tooling.
• Automate cloud infrastructure setup using IaC (Terraform, AWS CDK).
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers and AI Engineers to translate needs into reusable platform solutions.

As a Software Engineer within our Data, Analytics & AI Platform team, you build and maintain the software platform that enables engineering teams across our organisation. You develop platform services, deployment pipelines and internal tooling that help teams build, deploy and operate data and AI solutions efficiently. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a key part of your work. Using Terraform and AWS CDK, you automate the setup of cloud infrastructure and platform resources. You also contribute to project templates and platform components that help engineers work in a consistent, reliable and scalable way.

You work closely with Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers and AI Engineers to understand their needs and improve the platform they use every day. Based on these insights, you translate engineering and MLOps best practices into reusable platform solutions and automation. While you do not build machine learning models yourself, you understand how data and AI solutions are developed and deployed. Through your work, you help teams across logistics, sorting, customer contact and planning spend less time managing infrastructure and more time delivering business value.

You join the Data Analytics Services team within the Data Center of Excellence. The team includes MLOps Engineers, Platform Engineers and Solution Consultants. You work closely with them, as well as with the data scientists and AI engineers who use your platform every day. The team works in an open, collaborative and innovative way. Wednesday is our office day, when the team comes together in person to collaborate, share knowledge, and connect. Together, we combine engineering excellence, data expertise, and collaboration to make data and AI innovation accessible across PostNL.

• You work and think at Bachelor's or Master's level, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• You have experience developing software in Python and it is nice if you know Typescript.
• You have experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CDK and Terraform.
• You have experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• You have experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions. It is nice if you have experience designing reusable libraries, APIs or developer tooling.
• You have experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Databricks.
