The Water Footprint in Action programme at University of Twente invites applications for a four-year PhD position focused on advancing water-smart agriculture in Egypt's horticulture sector. You will perform quantitative analyses of present and future water use, use the ACEA model, and link scales from local interventions to national trade dynamics.

Competenze

• Master's degree in water management, agricultural systems, or environmental science.
• Strong quantitative profile with data analysis, modelling, programming, or computational methods.
• Ability to translate sustainability questions into rigorous research designs, including scenario development.
• Interest in water footprint assessment, water-smart agriculture, benchmarking, and environmental crediting.
• Experience collaborating with international partners in multi-stakeholder environments.
• Strong self-motivation and communication skills.
• Willing to travel and conduct project visits in Egypt.
• Arabic language skills are a strong asset; Arabic speaker beneficial.
• Available to start by 1 January 2027.
