Job summary

People2.0, a global EOR and AOR leader, is seeking a Payroll Team Leader based in Amsterdam with two days in the office. You will be accountable for accurate and timely payroll delivery within your team across sub-regions, ensuring SLAs and customer satisfaction.

You will coach and develop your team, monitor KPIs, streamline payroll processes, implement best practices, and collaborate with Finance and IT to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Dutch is required.
  • Experience running end-to-end payroll for Netherlands and DACH regions.
  • Minimum 7 years in payroll, with at least 5 in leadership.
  • Certification in payroll administration is desirable.
  • Experience in staffing industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

We are now seeking a Payroll Team Leader to join our growing team.

Based in Amsterdam (with two days per week in the office), this role reports to the Head of Payroll and Billing and forms part of the People2.0 EMEA Payroll and Billing function.

The Role

As Payroll Team Leader, you will be fully accountable for the accurate and timely delivery of payrolls within your team, ensuring SLAs are met and a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.

You will build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and play a key role in ensuring the payroll team delivers compliant, on‑time, and accurate payrolls across your sub‑region. Leading by example, you will coach and develop your team to deliver an outstanding customer experience while maintaining the highest standards of compliance.

You will be responsible for monitoring KPIs, managing workloads effectively, and ensuring team performance aligns with business expectations. Creating a positive and inclusive environment, you will foster trust, teamwork, and continuous improvement, making the payroll function a great place to work.

In addition, you will implement best practice in line with payroll regulations and drive ongoing improvements to payroll processes. Ultimately, your goal is to streamline operations while delivering a high‑quality service to both clients and stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, lead, and develop a high‑performing payroll support team, overseeing workload allocation and performance
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end payroll process, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery
  • Set objectives, prioritise workloads, and drive team performance against agreed KPIs
  • Develop, implement, and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and controls in line with legislation and company standards
  • Stay up to date with payroll legislation, regulatory changes, and industry best practice, implementing updates to mitigate risk
  • Work closely with Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency
  • Ensure appropriate training and coaching plans are in place, with regular training delivered, recorded, and documentation kept up to date
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team
  • Lead the implementation of new payroll systems and enhancements in collaboration with IT, vendors, and key stakeholders

What experience are we looking for?

  • Fluency in both English and Dutch
  • Experience of running end to end payroll for the Netherlands and DACH regions
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high‑performing team
  • Proven track record of process improvement.
  • Analytical skills with ability to use and interpret data for purposes of improvement of processes and efficiencies.
  • Able to use analytical Tools such as BI etc to build and analyse reports.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in payroll administration, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Certification in Payroll Administration (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in staffing industry
