The European Patent Office (EPO) is hiring a Patent Examiner in a hybrid role based in The Hague, Munich, or Berlin. You will evaluate patent applications in one of our official languages, assess novelty, and perform in-depth prior art searches to ensure fair EPC decisions.

Qualifications

• Master level degree in one or more technical fields listed.
• Excellent knowledge (C1) of one official EPC language and ability to understand the others; or English with a plan to learn others.

Responsabilités

• Examine patent applications and technical docs in English, French or German.
• Assess novelty and inventive step of new inventions.
• Perform in-depth prior art research using digital tools and patents sources.
• Apply EPC procedures to make high-quality grant decisions.
• Communicate findings clearly with applicants and colleagues.
• Collaborate with international teams in a diverse environment.
• Maintain high quality standards with scientific rigour.
• Help safeguard Europe's innovation ecosystem under EPC rules.
