Job summary

TenneT in Arnhem is seeking an Operating Engineer - Automation, SCADA & OT Systems within Operational Readiness Engineering for Offshore Netherlands. You ensure the automation and OT systems supporting offshore auxiliary assets are ready to be safely operated and maintained after handover to Operations.

You bridge Project Delivery, Engineering and the future Operations, reviewing solutions from an O&M perspective rather than owning detailed design.

Qualifications

A MSc or BSc in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
Relevant experience with industrial automation, SCADA, DCS, PLC or OT systems.
Practical understanding of automation architectures, industrial communication and control-system interfaces.
Knowledge of OT infrastructure such as networks, servers, virtualisation, firewalls and remote access.
Experience reviewing control philosophies, functional descriptions, network architectures and vendor documentation.
Understanding of diagnostics, redundancy, backup, recovery and lifecycle management.
Awareness of industrial cybersecurity principles, preferably including IEC 62443.
Experience working with contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams;
A structured and pragmatic way of working and the confidence to challenge technical solutions constructively.
Strong English communication skills. Dutch is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Represent the future Operations organisation by providing O&M input during engineering, testing, commissioning and handover.
Review operability and maintainability of SCADA, automation and OT systems.
Identify operational, lifecycle and cybersecurity risks and challenge technical solutions where required.
Support maintenance concepts, lifecycle planning, backup and recovery strategies and service requirements.
Safeguard documentation, configurations, software information and vendor knowledge before handover.
Attend/review FAT, SAT and commissioning results from an Operations perspective.
Capture lessons learned and translate operational experience into improvements for future projects.
