Job summary

Haskoning is seeking a motivated intern to advance offshore wake modelling in the EuroWindWakes project. You will join experts at the interface of measurements, atmospheric modelling and engineering wake models in the Netherlands.

You will process LiDAR and buoy data using Python and help define benchmark scenarios for wake validation. The internship offers mentorship, flexible hours and a 750€ monthly allowance, with hybrid working within international projects.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Master’s programme in wind energy, atmospheric science, physics, engineering, data science or a related field.
• Experience with Python.
• Interest in offshore wind energy, atmospheric flow or numerical modelling.
• Communicate confidently in English and available to start as soon as possible for at least 4 months; duration/hours to be agreed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and quality check benchmark input data, including wind farm layouts, turbine information, measurement metadata and operating history.
• Support processing and analysis of LiDAR and buoy measurements with documented Python workflows.
• Develop and test central validation scripts that compare model time series with withheld measurement data.
• Help define benchmark scenarios, data formats, performance metrics and uncertainty documentation for wake model validation.
• Contribute to future North Sea Round Robin scenarios and communicate findings in concise figures and presentations.
