Job summary

As an NPI Engineer

Key Responsibilities

You will support the introduction of new products from development into production within a high-tech manufacturing environment, acting as the link between R&D, engineering and manufacturing, ensuring that new products can be produced efficiently, cost-effectively and to the required quality standards.

• Review product designs and provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) input.
• Identify potential production, assembly and quality issues early in the product development process.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes, workflows and production methods.
• Support the selection and introduction of production equipment, tooling and fixtures.
• Plan and coordinate prototype builds, trial runs and pilot production.
• Analyse production issues and work with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement effective solutions.
• Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs, process documentation and quality guidelines.
• Support the transition of new products from R&D into stable and repeatable production.
• Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, cost, quality, yield and material usage.
• Apply continuous improvement and Lean principles to optimise manufacturing processes.
• Work closely with R&D, design engineers, production, quality and supply chain teams to achieve project milestones.
• Support multiple NPI projects and ensure activities are delivered within agreed timelines.

What you bring to the position

• Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a similar technical field.
• Experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, production engineering or process development.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and/or Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Experience with CAD software and technical drawings.
• Experience supporting prototypes, pilot builds or production transfers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement principles.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling and production equipment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering and production teams.
• A proactive, structured and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Good command of English, spoken and written.
