Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor to join underground mining operations based in Welkom. You will conduct precise surveys underground and on the surface, maintain survey records, and provide data for mine planning and production teams.

Essential qualifications include a Mine Surveying degree and SAGC registration, with 4+ years in underground mining. Proficiency in total stations, GPS/GNSS, AutoCAD, Surpac, and Minesight is required.

Our client is looking for a meticulous and skilled Mine Surveyor to join their underground mining operations based in Welkom . This role is essential for accurate mine modeling, development control, and ensuring operational efficiency and safety. You will be responsible for executing precise surveys both underground and on the surface, maintaining survey records, and providing crucial data for mine planning and production teams. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented surveyor keen to advance their career in a challenging and rewarding underground mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate underground and surface surveys, including setting out development and production lines.


• Establish and maintain survey control networks using advanced surveying equipment and techniques.


• Prepare and update mine plans, sections, and digital terrain models using specialized software.


• Monitor and report on mine volume calculations for ore and waste material.


• Ensure all survey data is accurately recorded, processed, and filed according to company standards.


• Collaborate closely with mine planning engineers and production teams to provide necessary survey support.


• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative requirements and safety standards for mine surveying.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.


• Professional registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) as a Professional Mine Surveyor.


• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, with significant exposure to underground mining .


• Proficiency with surveying instruments (e.g., total stations, digital levels, GPS/GNSS) and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Surpac, Minesight).


• Strong understanding of survey principles, mathematics, and data processing.


• Ability to work effectively in a challenging underground environment and communicate survey data clearly.
