Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking an MCP Expert to lead Java API integration with AI agents in Amsterdam on a 12-month contract. This role focuses on designing, building, and owning the MCP integration layer and its deployment across the enterprise platform on Azure.

You will manage MCP servers and Java REST API development within MCP-based architectures, covering development, UAT, and production. A hybrid work model with two days onsite in Amsterdam is expected, collaborating closely with platform

Qualifications

Proven, hands-on MCP experience with production deployments.
Strong Java development background with REST API design and integration experience.
Solid Microsoft Azure experience deploying services in production.
Ability to work from Amsterdam two days a week.

Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain MCP servers and tool integrations exposing enterprise Java APIs to AI agents and LLM applications.
Develop and integrate Java REST APIs within MCP-based architectures on the central platform.
Own integrations across dev, UAT and production – robust, monitored, production-grade.
Deploy and operate on Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, API Management, Azure Open AI / AI Foundry).
Partner with platform, architecture and product teams to define MCP standards and best practice across the organization.
Take point on troubleshooting, production support and incident resolution.
Shape documentation, testing strategy and release process from the ground up.
