Job summary

Van Storm in the Amsterdam area is seeking a regulatory compliance specialist to oversee and solve maritime regulatory issues, coordinate audits, and ensure adherence to SOLAS, MARPOL and other standards. You will bridge engineering and compliance, interfacing with authorities to secure approvals.

You will manage regulatory processes across EPC projects and operations, drive certifications, and support internal audits (ISM/ISPS, class, statutory surveys).

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Marine Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a related sector
• Proficient understanding of Flag State rules, maritime and offshore conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL)
• Familiarity with classification society rules and standards
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally, including visits to offshore installations

Responsibilities

• Interface with internal departments and external regulatory bodies for compliance activities
• Identify and resolve regulatory compliance issues, providing solutions for project and operational challenges
• Oversee the regulatory process, ensuring submission and approval of necessary engineering documents
• Obtain necessary certifications from authorities and monitor compliance status across projects and operations
• Conduct and support internal and external audits, such as ISM/ISPS, class, and statutory surveys
• Advise on efficient and practical implementation of IMO, flag and coastal state requirements.
• Operations support: Act as focal point for flag, coastal and class-related questions/issues and establish good and professional relationships with regulatory parties.
