Manufacturing & Assembly Engineer – ALTEN Netherlands

To ensure efficient production and seamless assembly, we’re looking for Manufacturing & Assembly Engineers with a strong grasp of Design for Assembly (DFA), lean manufacturing, and real-world shop floor interaction.

About the Role

• Location: Amsterdam area
• Language: Fluent in English (Dutch not required)
• Degree: BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• Experience: 2+ years in manufacturing engineering, industrialization, or assembly optimization

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between design and production. You will focus on optimizing assembly processes, scaling up production, and ensuring every step is well-documented and efficient.

• Lead and support production scaling for new and existing products
• Analyze and improve ease-of-assembly through Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
• Act as the liaison between design teams and the shop floor to resolve manufacturability issues
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and drive process efficiency improvements
• Develop clear process documentation (work instructions, assembly sequences, SOPs)
• Collaborate with supply chain and quality teams to ensure smooth product ramp-up and delivery

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of assembly techniques, production flow, and lean principles
• Experience applying DFA, DFM, and process standardization in manufacturing environments
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and assembly documentation
• Hands-on shop floor mindset — comfortable working closely with technicians and operators
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills
