Job description

Do you know what makes football fans tap, play, vote and come back for more? Are you an editor who loves creating content as much as leading a team? Then we’d love to meet you. As Managing Editor App, you’ll own the content of 433’s biggest strategic priority: the 433 app.

WE ARE 433

Born from a deep passion for the beautiful game, 433 represents global football culture at its core. With more than 80 million followers worldwide, including many of the sport’s greatest players, we are the largest online football platform in the world. Through close relationships with players, clubs, and leagues, we operate inside the locker room, capturing moments fans never had access to before. From breaking moments and original formats to new technology, products and creative ideas, 433 is where football culture and digital innovation come together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The 433 app is where we turn our audience into an active football community, and content is what makes it worth opening. As Managing Editor App, you own the day-to-day editorial experience: you decide what gets made, in which format and when it goes live. From quizzes, trivia and polls to news and wallpapers, you make sure the app feels fresh, entertaining and unmistakably 433.

This is a player-coach role. You lead a team of 3 app editors, set the editorial bar and help them grow, but a big part of your week is spent curating, creating and publishing content yourself. You’re also part of the shift schedule yourself. Football doesn’t stop at five o’clock, and neither does the app, so you’ll work evenings and weekends when the big games are on.

You won’t do this alone. You report to the Head of Content & Growth and work side by side with the Managing Editor Socials to keep app and social connected. With Product, you shape how content and features come together in the app. With our AI team, you actively explore how content automation and gaming can take the app and its user experience to the next level. And with Marketing, you turn audience insights into growth.

Most importantly, you don’t just look at what performs. You understand why it performs, and you turn that into better formats, stronger content and a more engaging app.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the app content plan and calendar: what gets made, in which formats and when it publishes.
  • Lead and develop a team of 3 editors, setting the quality and tone bar for all app content.
  • Stay hands-on, creating and publishing content alongside your team and working shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Work closely with the AI team to increase automated content output and quality.
  • Run the full format mix of quizzes, trivia, polls, news and wallpapers, and keep the feed fresh and reliable.
  • Turn engagement and performance data into editorial decisions: double down on what works, cut what doesn’t.
  • Develop new formats and ideas that drive engagement and give fans a reason to come back.
  • Share content and feature ideas with Product, and flag what’s underperforming in the current app.
  • Keep app content consistent with the wider 433 brand and our social channels.
  • Help your team become better editors through clear feedback, coaching and hands-on support.
What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a hands‑on editorial lead who combines a strong instinct for interactive content with a clear focus on engagement and retention.

You have:
  • A deep love for football and an eye for every detail of the game.
  • A finger on the pulse: you follow football news across social channels like X and know exactly which journalists to follow.
  • Editorial or content experience in social, sports, media or gaming, ideally with interactive formats such as quizzes, trivia and polls.
  • A proven, hands‑on track record of creating high‑engagement content, steered by performance data.
  • Experience leading a team, or a clear readiness to take the step to managing 3 editors.
  • The ability to read product and engagement analytics and turn them into editorial decisions.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams such as Product, Marketing, AI or Tech is a strong plus.
  • A genuine interest in AI, automation and gaming, and a willingness to experiment with new ways of creating content.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English. Dutch is a plus.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 environment. We work when football is played, so evenings and weekends are part of the job.
  • A love for our strong office culture and a preference for working at our Amsterdam office with the team as much as possible.
Who you are

As Managing Editor App at 433, you are:

  • A football obsessive: you instinctively know what fans will care about, play with and share.
  • A strong writer: you know how to write catchy, punchy copy that makes fans stop scrolling.
  • A player‑coach: you enjoy leading people, but you also want to be in the work yourself.
  • An editorial thinker: you care about quality, but also understand that great content needs to perform.
  • Data‑informed: you use insights to make better editorial decisions rather than assumptions, without losing your creative instinct.
  • A builder: you see opportunities for new formats, features and ways to make the app better.
  • Reliable and fast: you ship every day, keep the content calendar moving and make sure the feed never feels stale.
  • Flexible: you don’t mind working evenings and weekends, because that’s when football happens.
  • A natural leader: you give clear feedback, raise the bar and help the people around you become better editors.
  • Curious and adaptable: you’re always looking for the latest tools, you’re a big AI fan and you’re excited by a constantly changing digital landscape.
  • Amsterdam‑based: you live in or around Amsterdam, so you can be at the office as much as possible.
What’s in it for you?

We are committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive. To support this, we offer:

  • The opportunity to shape the content of our biggest strategic priority: the 433 app.
  • A lead role with real ownership and direct impact on how millions of fans experience 433.
  • The opportunity to work with a large international audience and some of the biggest names in football.
  • Plenty of room for your own ideas, experimentation and new formats.
  • Short communication lines and close collaboration with Product, Marketing, AI and our Social Content team.
  • A young, ambitious and down‑to‑earth team with a genuine passion for football.
  • An office with plenty of opportunities to stay active, including padel, a gym (discount), ping‑pong and football.
  • Daily catered lunch at the office.
  • A competitive salary and benefits, including a pension plan and plenty of vacation days.

We’re not looking for someone who simply publishes content. We’re looking for someone who makes fans want to open the app every day.
