Job description

At the GLS Group headquarters based in Amsterdam, a position has become vacant for a Manager Group Tax, reporting to the Director Group Tax. In this role you will be responsible for a broad range of tax matters across GLS’s international operations and play a pivotal role in shaping their global tax framework. You will work closely with various departments to ensure compliance, manage tax risks, and support strategic tax planning.

While this is a well-rounded tax role, approximately 50% of your responsibilities will involve Dutch taxation, given the importance of the Netherlands as a hub for cash pooling, M&A activities, and international tax structuring. You will also provide support on transfer pricing, corporate tax matters, tax audits across multiple jurisdictions, and the ongoing implementation of a Tax Control Framework (TCF).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic & Technical Tax Support: Assist in developing tax strategies to minimize risk and ensure compliance across Europe and North America;
  • Corporate Tax Compliance: Manage tax filings, including article 10a VPB and withholding tax considerations;
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Support SPA reviews, due diligence (DD) processes, and structuring of transactions;
  • Transfer Pricing: Oversee intercompany cost allocations and ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations;
  • Tax Audits: Manage and coordinate tax audits in various jurisdictions;
  • Tax Control Framework (TCF): Contribute to the development and implementation of the TCF to enhance compliance and governance;
  • Operational Tax Matters: Handle various day-to-day tax matters, including residence certificate applications and liaising with tax authorities;
  • Tax Accounting & Reporting: Support interim and year-end tax accounting processes, ensuring alignment with group financial reporting;
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with finance, legal, and external advisors to navigate complex tax landscapes.

Candidate

The ideal candidate is a tax professional with 7-10 years of experience, capable of handling both strategic and hands-on tax matters in an international setting.

Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Tax Law or Economics;
  • 7-10 years of relevant tax experience, preferably with a mix of Big 4 and in-house corporate tax roles, although straight out of advisory is also an option;
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch tax law and international tax regulations;
  • Experience with Transfer Pricing, and tax audits;
  • Ability to work in a complex, fast-moving international organization;
  • High ethical standards, analytical mindset, and attention to detail;
