Hotelschool The Hague is looking for a Manager Education & Research Support to lead our Education & Research Support department. In this role, you will advise senior management, lead and further develop the E&RS department and represent Hotelschool The Hague in relevant national, European and international networks.

Department

Education & Research Support (E&RS) is the central policy and expertise department for education and research within Hotelschool The Hague. The department contributes to the development and safeguarding of institutional frameworks, quality assurance, educational development and strategic alignment across our programmes.

The department is strengthening its strategic tactical and support focus. This includes a stronger position in national and European educational and research policy developments, increased expertise in quality management and accreditation, and a clearer distinction between external strategic advisory responsibilities and the internal support of our educational organisation.

As Manager Education & Research Support, you have an important role in this development. Alongside your responsibility for leading the department, you will increasingly focus on the external strategic positioning of Hotelschool The Hague, developments in European and international higher education and research, strategic partnerships and opportunities for external funding.

General function description

As Manager Education & Research Support, you fulfil a strategic and integral role in supporting and realising Hotelschool The Hague's education and research strategy. You advise the Board of Directors and Education & Research management and safeguard the coherence, quality and further development of policies, processes and programmes relating to education, research, accreditation and subsidy management.

You are also integrally responsible for the management and further development of the E&RS department, its objectives and the quality and continuity of its services.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing strategic policy for education and research;
• Advising the Board of Directors and management on developments with organisation-wide impact;
• Monitoring National, European and international developments and translating these into strategic opportunities and advice;
• Positioning Hotelschool The Hague in relevant external networks and developing strategic partnerships;
• Initiating and managing subsidy opportunities and external funding for education and research;
• Leading the E&RS department, including its multi-year plan, budget, staffing and professional development of all individual team members;
• The E&RS department’s staff includes an Educational Policy Advisor, Educational Advisors and an Internationalisation and Exchange Coordinator and Information Specialist of The Media Centre;
• Overseeing key institutional processes, quality management and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations;
• Leading strategic and multidisciplinary projects and strengthening collaboration across the organisation

Candidate profile

You are a strategic and inspiring leader who is comfortable operating in a complex educational environment. You are able to see the bigger picture while ensuring that strategy is translated into clear priorities, plans and results.

You understand the political and organisational dynamics surrounding higher education and research and know how to build relationships both within and outside the organisation.

You have/are:

• Broad theoretical knowledge relevant to higher education, research and the areas of responsibility of Education & Research Support;
• A strong understanding of organisational, procedural and professional relationships beyond your own department;
• Politically and organisationally sensitive and able to anticipate developments in the external environment;
• Strong strategic policy development and advisory skills;
• Able to translate complex developments into clear strategic choices and advice for senior management;
• Proven experience with European programmes
• Experienced in developing and managing multi-year plans, priorities, resources and budgets;
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop professionals;
• Proven track record of successful leading teams
• Able to lead strategic and multidisciplinary projects and processes;
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills;
• Decisive and able to balance different interests when making or advising on decisions;
• Skilled in networking and relationship management and comfortable representing Hotelschool The Hague externally;
• Able to develop, communicate and defend policy effectively;
• An advocate of collaboration and knowledge sharing across organisational boundaries;
• Interculturally sensitive and an effective communicator in an international environment.
• Fluent in both English and Dutch, with business level written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of a third language is considered a plus

Remuneration

Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary based on scale 13 of the labour agreement of Universities of Applied Sciences (CAO HBO), depending on your professional experience and qualifications. The current salary range published by Hotelschool The Hague for scale 13 positions is €6,461.91 to €8,020.60 gross per month, based on a full-time appointment.
