Job description

Are you a maritime technical professional with a strong understanding of vessel maintenance, data quality and planned maintenance systems? For this position, we are looking for a Maintenance Systems Engineer who will help safeguard the reliability, consistency and technical integrity of Roll Group’s fleet-wide Planned Maintenance System.

Company

Roll Group offers a total solution for the transportation, lifting and installation of heavy cargo. Our land/sea combination enables us to offer ‘Factory to Foundation’ solutions. With engineering capabilities, a diverse asset base and the ability to adapt, Roll Group takes care of heavy cargo and provides effective, innovative and sustainable services using our unique know-how.

Roll Group owns a versatile heavy-transport seagoing fleet consisting of dock-type vessels, which all have the option of three loading modes – Ro-Ro, Flo-Flo and Lo-Lo – as well as deck carriers. On the land side, Roll Group operates a large number of modern heavy-lift cranes with capacities of up to 4,000 tonnes, Self-Propelled Modular Trailers (SPMTs) and conventional trailers. The specific characteristics of Roll Group’s asset base ensure the ability to serve a wide range of markets, such as Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy.

Position

As Maintenance Systems Engineer, you are responsible for the accuracy, reliability and standardization of Roll Group’s Planned Maintenance System across the fleet. You report to the Global Head of Fleet, Marine.

In this role, you combine maritime technical knowledge with structured maintenance data, technical documentation and system management. You ensure that maintenance requirements, OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements and lessons learned are correctly translated into the Planned Maintenance System.

You maintain fleet-wide data standards, support users and improve the quality and consistency of maintenance information. You also act as the key link between Vessel Superintendents, vessel crews, QHSSE, IT and other office departments.

By providing reliable maintenance data, clear reporting and practical system support, you contribute directly to safe, compliant and efficient vessel operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain and update all maintenance-related documentation (OEM manuals, parts, drawings, procedures, standards, and certificates) in the Planned Maintenance System.
  • Maintain and update all Management System documentation, ensuring accurate categorization and filing.
  • Create, review and maintain scheduled jobs, work orders and parts lists based on manuals, best practices and lessons learned, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the fleet’s Planned Maintenance System.
  • Define and safeguard data standards (e.g., SFI codes, numbering) and delegate data entry to processors where appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain “How-to” guides for the Planned Maintenance System and provide training to Vessel Superintendents, vessel crew, and office personnel.
  • Manage and safeguard access to the Planned Maintenance System, liaising with IT on user setup, access rights and database management.
  • Prepare monthly performance reports of KPIs.
  • Ensure maintenance is compliant with applicable rules, industry standards, and OEM recommendations and correctly implemented into the Planned Maintenance System.
  • Support QHSE by reviewing new policies and procedures and updating the Planned Maintenance System accordingly.
  • Define and manage critical equipment maintenance and stock levels for the fleet.
  • Higher Vocational Education (Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Technology) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Marine Engineer or similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of marine systems (mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic).
  • Proven experience working with planned maintenance systems and maintaining them.
  • Experience with STAR IPS is preferred.
  • Experience in preparing and executing Statutory and Class Surveys.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable maritime, offshore, and onshore regulations and standards.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct vessel visits when required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 is required.
What we offer

  • With plenty of flexibility and freedom, including hybrid working two days a week.
