Job summary

Flex’s Motion Controls International (MCi), a Flex company, seeks a Robotics System Architect to lead architecture and technology roadmap for adaptive motion actuators. You will align robotics strategy with MCi goals, guide cross‑domain decisions, and establish interfaces across mechanics, electronics, and software.

The role requires a Master’s degree, 5 years in robotics, and experience with OEMs/integrators, plus travel globally.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science or Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in industrial, service, mobile or humanoid robotics.
• Experience working directly with robot OEMs, integrators, or automation companies.
• Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements and product specifications.
• Strong knowledge of motors, gearboxes/reducers, sensors, motion control, and embedded systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 10218 standards and robot safety concepts.
• Strong understanding of robot kinematics and dynamics.
• Strong understanding of control systems (model-based control, VLA, MPC).
• Excellent communication and ability to collaborate across teams, with global travel capability.
• Embedded software architecture and real-time operating systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assess MCi’s robotics capabilities and perform gap analyses against target applications.
• Serve as technical authority for robotics system architecture within MCi.
• Identify robotics segments where MCi can compete and add value.
• Translate payload, reach, accuracy, cost and safety objectives into system architecture.
• Define interfaces between mechanics, reducers, motors, sensors, electronics, firmware and robot software.
