Job summary

Flex, Motion Controls International (MCi), seeks a Research Engineer to design innovative mechatronic actuators and define product requirements. You will work with Business Development and technology experts to identify market needs, craft differentiators and protect IP.

The role blends technical leadership with customer interaction and cross-functional collaboration. You will translate market needs into technical specs, model concepts, and support roadmap development, traveling globally as

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering or Industrial design.
• Minimum 5 years in the development of mechatronic actuation.
• Experience working with customers, suppliers and OEMs or automation companies.
• Strong knowledge of motors, gearboxes/reducers, sensors, motion controls and embedded systems.
• Experience with 3D CAD software CREO and FEM.

Responsibilities

• Gather market needs and translate into product system requirements.
• Identify technology differentiators based on market landscape.
• Design (sub-) concepts for mechatronic actuators.
• Create theoretical product and requirement modelling during development.
• Solve complex problems in existing products with third parties as needed.
• Conduct patent research and identify IP opportunities.
• Conduct technology trend analysis and product benchmarks.
• Visit customers and OEMs for research information.
• Provide technical leadership in early project phases.
• Contribute to MCi Technology Roadmap and improve processes.
