Wärtsilä invites applications for Lead Engineer, Mechanical - Thrusters PDM & Portfolio Maintenance in Drunen, Netherlands. You will own the technical integrity, lifecycle readiness, and continuous improvement of the thruster portfolio, coordinating portfolio maintenance and data quality across global teams.

You will lead standardization, digitalization efforts, and cross-functional alignment, ensuring fast decisions and reliable product data for engineering, manufacturing, and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Ideally has hands-on experience with mechanical design and systems integration.
• Experience applying PLM/PDM data to engineering processes.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the mechanical design integrity and technical performance of the thruster portfolio.
• Ensure configurations are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant across lifecycle.
• Review and approve designs, 3D models, and drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain high-quality product structures, configurations, and documentation.
• Lead portfolio maintenance activities and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Ensure lifecycle readiness across product groups (updates, improvements, phase-in/phase-out).
• Collaborate with production locations and Technical Services to address nonconformities and drive quality improvements.
• Lead or contribute to technical projects and cost optimization initiatives.
• Define project teams, plans, and follow-up; set priorities for team members and external partners.
• Ensure timely, high-quality execution in a matrix organization; act as link between Product Development and Project Engineering.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, service and engineering stakeholders; present findings to support decisions.
• Promote data-driven engineering, standardization, and modularization; drive automation and dashboards.
• Mentor engineers and support capability development for long-term growth.
• Encourage knowledge sharing across the organization.
