Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a (Senior) Mechanical Engineer - Product Care, Thrusters in Drunen to maintain the global thruster portfolio to high-quality standards. You will manage design, product data, and collaboration across production, development, and project engineering teams.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical/marine engineering, 5+ years in engineering or product development, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or marine engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable engineering or product development role.
• Proficient in 3D modelling; Siemens NX or equivalent; Teamcenter preferred.
• Good understanding of technical drawings and manufacturing processes.
• Problem-solving mindset with an innovative, solution-oriented approach.
• Structured, proactive team player in an international environment.
• Experience with scripting or dashboards is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the thruster portfolio and hold design responsibility for assigned product groups.
• Create and review 3D models and drawings compliant with specs, class rules, and standards; cross-check designs.
• Support product updates, improvements, and phase-in/phase-out.
• Keep product structures, configurations, and documentation accurate in Teamcenter.
• Evaluate nonconformities with production, suppliers, and Technical Services.
• Contribute to cost-saving and product improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and develop internal engineering guidelines and processes.
• Link Product Development and Project Engineering to ensure product readiness.
• Act as engineering contact for sales, sourcing, and suppliers; align with Wärtsilä and suppliers.
• Drive standardization and use digital tools (PLM/PDM, scripts, dashboards) to improve efficiency.
