Job summary

Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam is seeking a Lead Engineer Marine Systems and Machinery for its office in Rotterdam. You will lead the design of machinery and marine systems for new builds and large conversions, coordinating with clients from the orientation phase and advising on technology for energy transition.

The role is primarily technical, guiding designers and engineers and ensuring compliance with classification rules from Lloyd's Register, DNV, and Bureau Veritas.

Qualifications

• About 10 years of experience in a similar position.
• Knowledge of requirements from classification societies and authorities.
• Knowledge of system components, piping materials and vessel layouts.
• Experience developing machinery arrangements.
• Experience with engineering and design tools.
• Knowledge of electrical systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Determine specifications for marine systems together with clients.
• Design and engineer marine systems for new vessels and conversions.
• Calculate and lay out engine rooms, including pump calculations, drive calculations, system diagrams and propulsion.
• Lead projects, hold client contact and guide designers and engineers.
• Work according to classification rules and specifications of Lloyd's Register, DNV and Bureau Veritas.
• Investigate and develop technology for the energy transition, such as alternative fuel systems and energy efficiency measures.
