Job summary

Fixico in Amsterdam is seeking an experienced engineering leader to drive the vision for our search, matching and allocation engine. You will start with a lean team and ship a first version quickly, proving it works and then scaling across markets.

You will balance build vs buy, design a scoring layer, and guide a growing engineering group while remaining hands-on on the hardest parts. Fluent English is required; Dutch is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in engineering at staff/principal/lead level and code in last 3 years.
• Built first version of a matching, allocation, dispatch or assignment engine.
• Extensive experience with event-driven workflows and state machines.
• Experience replacing a live system with shadow mode or gradual cutover.
• Background in two-sided marketplaces where supply capacity matters.
• Ability to make build vs buy decisions with limited data.
• Proven role as technical lead alongside Product and Data teams.
• Fluent English; Dutch language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and own the architecture for search, matching and allocation.
• Ship a first working version quickly and scale it market by market.
• Build the dispatch flow with steering, tendering and cascade mechanics.
• Create a tunable scoring layer for speed, price, lead time or quality.
• Decide on build vs buy and guide the team while remaining hands-on.
• Grow the engine team around the core engine and handle the hardest parts.
