Job summary

Anchormen is seeking a Lead Data Engineer (Azure) to spearhead technical delivery on data and AI projects for major Dutch clients. You will lead engineers and data scientists, focus on Azure Data Hub solutions, and own detailed designs and implementation.

You will stay hands-on, coding daily while guiding project direction, quality, and client communication. Dutch language skills are a plus, and you will collaborate across sales, PM, and marketing teams to maximize business value.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
You already are a lead engineer with experience guiding projects and teams.
You have hands-on OO programming experience (Python/Java).
You have experience designing and building data applications and pipelines.
Excellent coding skills with CI/CD and git workflows.
You understand storage and processing options (file/SQL/NO-SQL; batch/streaming; stateful/stateless).
Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-centric mindset.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities for technical and business topics.
Speaking Dutch is a nice-to-have.
Experience with two or more Azure cloud technologies and eagerness to learn more.

Responsibilities

Lead technical delivery with a team of engineers and data scientists.
Design detailed designs and implement project solutions focusing on Azure and Data Hub.
Act as the technical point of contact for progress, quality, and content.
Contribute to coding daily within the team and guide best practices.
Collaborate with architects, consultants, PMs, and sales to deliver business value.

How would an Anchormen project and your contribution look like?

The Lead Data Engineer (Azure) is a dynamic role that puts you in the position of a technical lead responsible for implementing solutions together with a team of engineers and data scientists. In this position you will be working with a focus on Azure and the Data Hub and Applied AI solutions.

After the pre-sales process is finished and architects/consultants have created relevant high level technical designs and defined project deliverables, the building phase of the solution starts. You take the lead in detailed designs and implementation of the project. As a lead, you collaborate with your team of data scientists, engineers, project managers, and sales, making sure business value for clients is always delivered. From a customer perspective, you are the technical point of contact responsible for progress, quality, and content. In addition to technically leading the project, you are still actively programming daily within the team.

The right person for this job has excellent communication skills to lead all the technical aspects of project delivery including presenting technical and business concepts to a variety of client stakeholders. When a customer faces significant issues, you step in to find the cause and suggest a solution. Next to that, you can influence and consult, providing options with pros, cons, and risks, around all key technical decisions during project delivery.

Last but not least, all of the leads love to share their knowledge, so they are usually involved in other tasks such as supporting marketing by preparing events and bootcamps, writing technical blogs, going to conferences, training customers through Academy programs and sharing their knowledge with colleagues in the form of Tech talks or round tables.

Job requirements

A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
You already are a lead engineer and have experience with leading projects and leading a team of technical people
You have hands-on object-oriented programming experience (Python/Java)
You have experience in designing and building data applications / pipelines
Excellent coding skills (clear coding, unit testing, CI/CD, gitflow etc)
You understand the diverse ways of storing and processing data (file vs SQL vs NO-SQL, batch vs streaming, stateful vs stateless)
Strong interpersonal skills, customer-centric attitude, proven team player and team builder
Exceptional communication and presentation skills to include technical and business concepts
Speaking Dutch is a big plus
