Job summary

Wakuli in Den Bosch is hiring a Lead Barista to join our growing team. You will be behind the bar, greeting guests, brewing specialty coffee, and sharing the Wakuli story while keeping the store vibrant and clean.

Beyond bar duties, you will lead shifts, schedule rosters, train junior baristas, manage stock, and uphold HACCP standards. The role requires 2+ years in retail or hospitality, English fluency, and a passion for coffee.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in retail or hospitality.
• Fluent in English and preferably Dutch.
• Strong knowledge of, or willingness to quickly learn about specialty coffee.
• Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence.
• Available minimum 24 hours per week (4-5 shifts) - including at least one shift on Saturday or Sunday.
• Monday morning and Monthly count availability is a must.

Responsibilities

• Behind the bar: welcome guests, brew coffee, share Wakuli story, keep store clean and energized.
• Act as shift lead: assign daily tasks and ensure completion, resolve minor issues and escalate when needed.
• Build and maintain the weekly roster for the store and ensure proper shift coverage.
• Train new baristas in service standards, coffee quality and Wakuli culture; provide regular feedback.
• Monitor stock levels and place weekly orders with store manager approval; assist with monthly inventory counts.
• Uphold HACCP hygiene and safety standards; maintain a clean, safe and compliant store environment.

Based in Den Bosch, starting October.

We love great coffee. That’s why we’re building an alternative coffee industry that actually works. For both farmers and consumers.

How? By working directly with farmer groups around the world. We set up transparent, traceable export lines, roast the beans ourselves and sell the coffee straight to customers. So no unnecessary middlemen or resellers. Those short supply chains make sure farmers always get a good price.

You’ll find us in 24 (and counting) bars across the Netherlands, and online through our own platform. For customers, that means freshly roasted specialty coffee that’s easy to access, relatively affordable and just seriously delicious.

What You’ll Do

You as a Lead Barista:
During your working days, you'll be behind the bar - welcoming guests, brewing coffee, sharing the Wakuli story, and ensuring the store is clean and filled with positive energy.
In addition to your regular bar shifts, we ask that you take on a few extra responsibilities.

Additional responsibilities:

Act as shift lead

• Assign daily tasks and make sure they are completed.

• Solve minor issues on the floor and es calate when needed.

Scheduling

• Build and maintain the weekly roster for your store.

• Ensure proper shift coverage based on availability and store needs.

Team training & coaching

• Train new baristas in service standards, coffee quality and Wakuli culture.

• Coach team members on the job and provide regular feedback.

Stock & inventory

• Monitor stock levels and place weekly orders (with store manager approval).

• Support with monthly inventory counts and ensure stock accuracy.

Store hygiene & safety

• Uphold hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).

• Ensure a clean, safe and compliant store environment.

What You Bring

• At least 2 years of experience in retail or hospitality

• Fluent in English and preferably Dutch
