Job summary

Wakuli is opening a brand new bar at Amsterdam Centraal Station. We’re seeking a personable barista to serve fast-moving commuters with precision and warmth. Training will occur at existing Wakuli bars in Amsterdam before you join the Centraal Station team.

You will work in a busy, to-go focused environment, learning product knowledge from our team. The role offers growth into a store leader position and a chance to become a brand ambassador for Wakuli.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in customer service, horeca or retail.
• Fluent in English; some Dutch preferred.
• Willingness to learn about specialty coffee quickly.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to handle pressure during busy rush hours.
• Minimum 16 hours/week, including at least one weekend day.

Responsibilities

• Craft the best specialty coffees and other drinks for Wakuli customers.
• Assist customers with coffee selection and at-home brewing advice.
• Maintain and operate coffee equipment.
• Ensure smooth service during peak hours and high-volume traffic.
• Prepare food items to Wakuli standards and keep stock ready.
• Uphold HACCP hygiene standards and waste management protocols.
• Open and close the bar independently.

How? By working directly with farmer groups around the world. We set up transparent, traceable export lines, roast the beans ourselves and sell the coffee straight to customers. So no unnecessary middlemen or resellers. Those short supply chains make sure farmers always get a good price.

Your Role

We’re opening a brand new Wakuli bar at Amsterdam Centraal Station and are looking for stellar baristas to bring it to life! This is a to-go focused location - with a small seating area and an a space dedicated to our coffee products - right in the middle of one of the busiest transit hubs in the Netherlands. You’ll serve a fast-moving crowd of commuters and travellers, so speed, precision and a warm smile go hand in hand.

You will support and work closely together with the specialty coffee bar manager & our product team to bring Wakuli’s promise of accessible specialty coffee to the streets. You are a proven people-person who takes pride in giving amazing service experiences, even when it’s busy. You are customer‑centric and believe in impact products with flawless execution, making every effort to give your customers exactly what they need.

You excel in fast‑paced, high‑volume environments and enjoy an inclusive, collaborative workplace, where your voice genuinely counts. And you love coffee, want to learn everything there is to know, and will craft the best coffee drinks for time‑pressed commuters and coffee lovers alike!

To set you up for success, your onboarding and training will take place at one of our other Wakuli bars in Amsterdam, where you’ll learn the ropes from experienced colleagues before joining the team at Centraal Station.

What you’ll own

• Craft the best specialty coffees and other drinks while serving all Wakuli customers with an accessible and energetic approach

• Assist all customers in levelling‑up their coffee game at home with the best advice on choosing from our variety of beans and pods

• Work with and maintain the best coffee equipment

• Ensure and control everything is in place to best serve customers every hour of the day, including during peak commuter rush hours

• Prepare food items to Wakuli’s standards, keeping everything fresh, well‑stocked and ready to go

• Take care of thehighest hygiene standards (HACCP) and waste management protocols

• Be able to independently open and close the specialty coffee bar

• Willingness to show new colleagues the ins and outs of the job on a needs basis

• Full and complete knowledge and adherence to all product, service, and brand training playbooks

• Complete your onboarding and training at one of our other Wakuli bars in Amsterdam before starting at Centraal Station

• Be a true brand ambassador for Wakuli, living and breathing our mission

What you’ll bring

• 1+ years experience in customer service, restaurant/cafe (horeca) or retail position

• Fluency in English and preferably (some)Dutch

• Strong knowledge of, or willingness to learnquicklyabout specialty coffee

• Strong interpersonal communication skills

• Able to handle pressure and the ability to stay friendly and focused during busy rush hours

• Minimum 16 hours a week of flexible availability - at least available 1 weekend day a week
