Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) at ESTEC, Noordwijk, Netherlands, seeks a Lead Engineer for Secure Connectivity. You will drive end-to-end 5G NTN system design, validation, and performance verification across the space, ground and user segments and coordinate with multiple ESA offices and industry partners.

You will report to the Head of the Secure Connectivity System Architecture Section and contribute to the IRIS2 programme, ensuring traceability of requirements and robust end-to-end performance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering with four years of relevant experience (or Bachelor’s with eight years).
• Experience in design and validation of 5G NTN end-to-end systems.
• Knowledge of 3GPP standards and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end 5G NTN validation activities across space, ground and user segments.
• Develop and maintain IRIS2 5G roadmap with system capabilities per 3GPP releases.
• Ensure end-to-end consistency of satellite access network and traceability of requirements.
• Define performance requirements, KPIs and validation strategies across domains.
• Coordinate tests, simulations, ground testing and in-orbit validation campaigns.
• Provide regular reporting to project management and liaise with ESA stakeholders.
