Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) seeks a D2D Network Lead Mission Engineer to oversee 5G/6G NTN system design, development, qualification and in-orbit validation for the D2D partnership projects ELEOSYS and SELYCE. You will coordinate with satellite operators and industrial primes, ensuring adherence to mission requirements, schedule and cost constraints.

The role reports to the D2D Mission Manager and involves leading a team across departments, with exposure to procurement and end-to-end validation

Qualifications

Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 4 years of professional experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8 years total experience.
Experience in SatCom systems specification, design, development, verification and end-to-end validation.
Experience with 5G/6G telecom networks engineering and large-scale ground software development.
Experience in agile system engineering and model-based system engineering is advantageous.
Knowledge of ESA procurement processes and contract negotiation.

Responsibilities

Lead 5G/6G NTN system architecture definition, procurement, design, development and validation for D2D projects.
Ensure mission performance alignment with system requirements across space, ground and user segments.
Supervise development and validation of software protocol stack on board and on the ground.
Lead end-to-end integration of NTN payloads, RAN and core subsystems with ground architectures.
Coordinate with industrial partners to monitor progress and ensure technical progress.
