Job summary

agap2 Netherlands is seeking a skilled Kotlin Developer to join its international team with a local Dutch focus. You will contribute to backend services and scalable microservices across industries like Banking, Fintech, and Logistics, while shipping reliable software in a DevOps environment.

You’ll collaborate with product owners and architects, own parts of the codebase, and participate in continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Hybrid work and a strong benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on Kotlin (4+ years) and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Hibernate.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD and DevOps in Azure Cloud.

The position

As a Kotlin Developer at agap2, you take on the challenge within an international environment with a local focus. Key responsibilities

Join a high-impact eCommerce and logistics environment for one of the Netherlands' leading retailers. The team is responsible for home delivery functionality, working on business-critical applications and services that support logistics, delivery and the expansion of electric delivery.

• Join an Agile scrum team that works in increments of two weeks; participating in all ceremonies of standups, refinement, planning, and retrospective.
• Work with the team on reliable solutions and also take responsibility for the team’s code in our DevOps way of working (including availability for 24/7 standby shifts).
• Analyse/design application and data architecture solutions, build code, enforce code quality, develop best practices and manage deployments.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain backend services using Kotlin and Java
• Design application and data architecture solutions
• Build scalable and reliable APIs and microservices
• Work with Spring Boot, Hibernate and Kubernetes
• Take ownership of code quality, deployments and production reliability
• Work with CI/CD pipelines in an Azure Cloud environment
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, architects and other engineering teams
• Coordinate technical activities and help drive projects forward
• Make technical decisions and contribute to best practices within the team
• Take shared responsibility for production systems, including 24/7 standby/on-call responsibilities

What You bring to the position

• At least 7 years of work experience as a software engineer
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin (4 years+)
• Strong experience with Spring Boot
• Experience with Kubernetes and Hibernate
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices in an Azure Cloud environment.
• Experience working with Azure Cloud
• Experience coordinating projects, teams or technical initiatives

Nice to have:

• Tech Lead experience is highly valued
• A big plus if you also have experience with Kafka, Grafana, Postgres, and APIs
• Experience with E-commerce, retail or logistics environments
