Job summary

Our client, a multinational real estate organization with a European HQ in Amsterdam, seeks an Accountant to join a large international Finance team, reporting to the Management Accountant. You will gain broad exposure to property accounting, financial reporting and the full property lifecycle.

The role focuses on month‑end and year‑end close, statutory reporting, and close collaboration with Property Management and Asset Management across the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in finance or accounting; real estate is a plus.
• Strong accounting and balance sheet experience with month-end and year-end close.
• Experience with statutory reporting and knowledge of IFRS, Dutch GAAP or German GAAP is an advantage.
• Strong Excel and IT skills; experience with ERP systems and/or Yardi is a plus.
• Proficiency in English; Dutch and/or German is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.
• Support financial reporting, statutory accounts, audits, and analyses.
• Assist with accounting for property acquisitions, developments, disposals and related transactions.
• Collaborate with Shared Services Centre for cash, intercompany, and AP/AR reconciliations.
• Improve finance processes, controls and reporting while ensuring policy compliance.
• Work with Management Accountant and Finance teams across Property and Asset Management to grow expertise in property accounting.

Our client is a very successful, multinational organization in Real Estate. The organization has activities on all continents and has established a leading position in the market. For their European HQ in Amsterdam they are seeking to recruit a Accountant to support further growth. You will be reporting to the Management Accountant and be part of a large, international Finance team.In this role, you will gain broad exposure to property accounting, financial reporting and the full property lifecycle, working closely with colleagues across Finance as well as Property Management and Asset Management.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules as part of the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
• Support the preparation of financial reporting, statutory accounts, audit deliverables and financial analyses
• Assist with the accounting for property acquisitions, developments, asset enhancement initiatives, disposals and other property-related transactions
• Work closely with the Shared Services Centre to ensure accurate cash, intercompany and AP/AR reconciliations
• Contribute to improving finance processes, controls and reporting, while ensuring compliance with Group Accounting Policies
• Work closely with the Management Accountant and wider Finance team, building relationships with stakeholders across Property Management and Asset Management and developing your expertise in property accounting

Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration
• Approximately 2+ years of relevant experience within a finance or accounting environment; Real Estate experience is a plus
• Strong financial accounting and balance sheet experience, with experience in month-end and year-end closing
• Experience with statutory financial reporting and knowledge of IFRS, Dutch GAAP or German GAAP is an advantage
• Strong Excel and IT skills; experience with ERP systems and/or Yardi is a plus
• Professional working proficiency in English, with a hands-on, proactive and accurate approach; Dutch and/or German is a plus but not a requirement
