Picnic in Amsterdam is seeking a Software Engineer (Java) to design, develop, and test backend features for our Warehouse Systems, powering inbound handling, conveyors, and delivery orchestration. You will own projects from concept to delivery and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to keep performance and reliability at the core.

With 2–5 years of Java experience, a Master’s or equivalent, and a product mindset, you’ll tackle business problems with the best-fitting tech.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, AI, IT, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Product mindset; treat technology as a means to solve business problems and own the solution.
• 2–5 years of professional Java experience with strong back-end development meaning.
• English skills are strong; Dutch language not required.
• Experience with AI tooling and agentic engineering.
• Willing to relocate to the Netherlands; office in Amsterdam; some home‑working possible.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test backend features for Warehouse Systems.
• Own projects from concept to delivery and manage priorities and deadlines.
• Collaborate across cross‑functional teams to ensure scalable, secure warehouse platforms.
• Maintain and improve performance, reliability, and security of backend services.
• Work with Java 21/25 stack (Spring, Reactor, Maven) and related technologies.
