Job summary

Avular is seeking a hands-on IT System Administrator to strengthen our IT team and sustain a Linux-driven, containerised environment. You will support Windows and Linux/macOS devices, manage Microsoft 365/Entra ID, and handle the Atlassian stack, virtualization, and Fortinet networking from our Strijp-T office in Eindhoven.

• Degree (MBO+/HBO) in IT or comparable field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience as a system administrator or in a similar role.
• Strong Linux administration (Ubuntu) foundation.
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
• Scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell or Python).
• Independent, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on security.
• Good proficiency in Dutch and English (team is international).
• Bonus: Fortinet networking equipment experience.
• Bonus: Proxmox or other virtualization platforms.
• Bonus: Intune/endpoint management and Docker.
• Bonus: familiarity with compliance or security frameworks (NIS2, CRA, ISO 27001).

Responsibilities

• Manage Windows devices (50+) via Microsoft Intune, including Autopilot onboarding, updates and security baselines.
• Manage Linux/Ubuntu (~30) and macOS (~10) devices, via Intune and Apple Business Manager.
• Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID: users, devices, access and security, including onboarding/offboarding.
• User and access management across Jira & Confluence (Atlassian stack).
• Manage virtualization and backup infra: Proxmox cluster, Proxmox Backup Server, ZFS, Synology NAS.
• Maintain building-wide network on Fortinet stack (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP).
• Monitor and log health using Zabbix and Grafana; act on alerts.
• Run service desk and asset management (GLPI, Snipe-IT) with proper ticket flow; provide first/second-line support.
• Handle facilities IT: printers, door access, cabling, and office projects.
• Assist with procurement and asset lifecycle; contribute to security/compliance (NIS2, EU Cyber Resilience Act).
• Document and automate recurring work to retain knowledge in the team.

Job description

At Avular, we are looking for a hands-on and proactive IT System Administrator to strengthen our IT team. Here you will keep our Linux-driven, containerised IT environment running and help make it more mature, more secure and more automated. In this role, you will be the go-to person for your colleagues and the operational backbone behind the systems that keep an innovative robotics company moving. So, you will become the person who makes sure the technology behind our people simply works.

As part of the team, you will be contributing mainly to the day-to-day operation and improvement of our infrastructure, working closely with and reporting to our IT Lead. You understand that good documentation and sensible automation are part of the job, and your Definition of Done includes both.

Managing our Windows fleet (50+ devices) through Microsoft Intune, the largest part of our endpoint estate, including policies, Autopilot onboarding, updates and security baselines

Managing our Linux/Ubuntu (~30) and macOS (~10) devices, the latter via Intune and Apple Business Manager

Administering our Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environment: users, devices, access and security, including onboarding and offboarding of colleagues

User and access management across our Atlassian stack (Jira & Confluence)

Managing our virtualisation and backup infrastructure (Proxmox cluster, Proxmox Backup Server, ZFS, Synology NAS)

Helping own and maintain the building-wide network on our Fortinet stack (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP)

Keeping our monitoring and logging healthy (Zabbix, Grafana) and acting on what it tells you

You have a degree (MBO+/HBO) in IT or a comparable field, or equivalent experience

At least 3 years of professional experience as a system administrator or in a comparable role

A strong foundation in Linux administration (Ubuntu); this is the core of our environment

Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs)

Experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID

Scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell or Python) to automate recurring work

An independent, solution‑oriented mindset with a natural eye for security

Good proficiency in both spoken and written Dutch and English (our team is partly international)

Bonus: experience with Fortinet networking equipment
