Job summary

Certhon Build B.V. is offering an R&D internship in the Netherlands for engineering students to contribute to the development of innovative cultivation systems. You’ll work on projects like Gronos, the JSK cooling system, and SuprimAir, alongside experienced R&D engineers to bring ideas to life.

The internship lasts 3 to 6 months and takes place primarily on-site at Certhon, with occasional remote work. You’ll gain exposure to climate tech, lighting, and advanced growing systems, turning ideas

• Looking for a 3 to 6 month research internship.
• Residence in the Netherlands or willing to work there.

What You'll Be Doing

As an intern on our R&D department, you will contribute to the development of new, innovative cultivation systems. You will have the opportunity to help create solutions that shape the greenhouse horticulture of tomorrow and bring your technical and creative ideas to life. Examples of projects include Gronos, our revolutionary cherry tomato production system; the JSK, our in-house cooling system; and SuprimAir, our semi-closed greenhouse system. During your internship, you will work alongside experienced R&D engineers on a variety of technical challenges related to system development, integration, and optimization.

At the Certhon Innovation Center, we test and develop new cultivation systems for controlled environments. We work with a wide range of crops, from tomatoes and cucumbers to orchids. You will gain exposure to innovations in areas such as climate technology, lighting, and advanced growing systems.

Who are you?

• You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, or a similar technical field, and are in your fourth or last year of study;
• You are looking for a research internship of 3 to 6 months;
• You are currently living in the Netherlands;
• You have an affinity with innovations in horticulture and technical systems;
• You possess important soft skills:
• Strong communication skills
• A sense of ownership
• Creativity

The internship takes place primarily on-site at Certhon; occasional remote work is possible. Please note that our location is only limitedly accessible by public transport. If applicable, students are responsible for arranging suitable accommodation themselves.

The availability of the internship position is linked to commercial leads.
