Job summary

Viking Europe offers an internship in the Master Data Management team in Venlo. You will support product data models, classifications, and hierarchies while learning how business requirements translate into practical data solutions.

You will gain hands-on experience with data analysis, data quality, and process improvement, collaborating with Purchasing, Compliance, Content Factory, BI and IT in a dynamic international environment. The role is full-time for 5–6 months starting February 2027.

Qualifications

  • 3rd or 4th year Bachelor student in Information Technology, Business IT, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Digital Business, or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Visio.
  • Experience with data analysis, querying or data transformation tools is a plus.
  • Interest in data management, modelling concepts, data structures, hierarchies, attributes, product relationships and classifications, systems, process documentation, and process mapping.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset with the ability to analyse large and complex datasets.
  • Organised and keen on developing project management skills.
  • Proactive, curious, structured and solution-oriented with a focus on data quality and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills.
  • Available full-time from February 2027 for 5-6 months

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain and improve product data models, product structures, hierarchies, attributes and relationships.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data model solutions.
  • Assess impact of changes to data model and product structure across products and systems.
  • Support partial project management and data cleansing initiatives.
  • Gather and analyse business requirements to ensure solutions address needs.
  • Assist with data quality rules, validation and governance standards.
  • Ensure adherence to MDM standards and modelling guidelines.
  • Monitor data quality and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Excel and XML to manage and analyze data.
  • Create process visuals with Microsoft Visio.
  • Collaborate with departments to improve processes and product information quality

What To Expect During Your Internship

Join our Master Data Management department and gain experience at the intersection of marketing, data, and technology. As an intern within our Product Structure & Technology team, you will support the team in maintaining and improving the way product data is structured and managed. You will gain hands‑on experience with product data models, classifications, hierarchies and relationships, while learning how business requirements are translated into practical data solutions.

You will contribute to activities such as analyzing product data, identifying data quality and process improvement opportunities, supporting data modelling and documentation, and assisting with projects related to product structure, taxonomy, data migration and MDM system improvements.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop your analytical, technical and project management skills, work with real business data and collaborate with colleagues across Purchasing & Assortment, Compliance, Content Factory, BI and IT in a dynamic, international environment. Your Responsibilities
  • Design, maintain and continuously improve product data models, product structures, hierarchies, attributes and relationships.
  • Translate business requirements into clear and scalable functional data model solutions.
  • Assess the impact of proposed changes to the data model and product structure across products, processes, systems and stakeholders.
  • Take on partial project management responsibilities and support additional projects within the team related to product data cleansing, product structure redesign, and data migration activities where required.
  • Gather, analyse and challenge business requirements to ensure that proposed solutions address the underlying business need.
  • Support the definition and implementation of data quality rules, validation mechanisms and governance standards.
  • Ensure adherence to agreed MDM standards, principles, naming conventions and modelling guidelines.
  • Monitor data quality and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify data quality issues and root causes related to product structures and data models and coordinate their resolution.
  • Work with Excel and XML to manage, organize, and analyze data
  • Use data analysis to identify trends, inconsistencies, inefficiencies and opportunities for automation or process improvement.
  • Support process documentation and process mapping to improve and standardize ways of working
  • Create and maintain process visualizations using Microsoft Visio
  • Collaborate with different departments to improve processes and maintain the quality of product information
Your Profile
  • You are a 3rd or 4th year Bachelor student studying Information Technology, Business IT, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Digital Business, or a related field
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Visio
  • Experience with data analysis, querying or data transformation tools is a plus
  • You have an interest in data management, modelling concepts, data structures, hierarchies, attributes, product relationships and classifications, systems, process documentation, and process mapping
  • Strong analytical skills and a data‑driven mindset, with the ability to analyse large and complex datasets
  • You are comfortable working with large amounts of information and have a keen eye for detail
  • You have good analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • You are organized and interested in developing your project management skills
  • You are proactive, curious, structured and solution‑oriented, with a strong focus on data quality and continuous improvement.
  • You have excellent spoken and written English skills
  • You are available full‑time from February 2027 for a duration of 5-6 months
